Fishing
on Lake Martin features a large
population of spotted bass and largemouth bass.
Other species present in the lake include white bass,
striped bass, bluegill, channel catfish,
flathead catfish, red ear sunfish,
yellow perch and black crappie. Fishing
Tournaments
begin in the early spring and include
Bassmasters® as well as
others.

you catch the limit.
Wind Creek State Park
is located seven miles southeast of Alexander City on Highway 128,
spans 1,445 acres of pine and hardwood ridges on the shoreline of beautiful
Lake Martin.
Wind Creek's fully equipped modern campground contains 642 sites spread over
320 acres.
D.A.R.E. Power Park
is located between Alexander City and Dadeville at Young's Landing.
It is the most recent recreation facility to be added in the Lake Martin
area. The park features
a swimming beach, two large pavilions, 13 picnic tables with grills, two
fishing piers and an amphitheater.
Chimney Rock
is one of the most popular sites on Lake Martin.
It is a popular island boating stop where daredevils climb to various points
on the lone rock
that juts from the island like a chimney - and jump into the lake.
Horseshoe Bend National Military Park
The 2,040 acre National
Military Park is dedicated to the memory of U.S. Soldiers
and Creek Nation Indians who died in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend on March
27, 1814.
The visitor center and museum depicts the period of the battle and explains
the equipment used
by the soldiers and Creek Indians. The park is located between New Site and
Dadeville on Highway 49.
This is the only national military park in the state.
Alexander City Jazz Fest features two nights of New Orleans style
entertainment and
great music.
This annual event takes place in
June and draws crowds from all over the country.
Lake Martin Amphitheater is a prime Central Alabama location for
music lovers.
The Amphitheater was formed on a bluff overlooking Lake Martin just off
Highway 63 near Kowaliga Bridge.
Wetumpka Depot Players
offers several presentations each year and each one is a real
treat.

Alexander City Sportsplex offers many different sporting activities
as well as hosting state,
regional and national athletic tournaments. Some activities include:
Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball,
City League Basketball, Alex City Youth Football, City League Youth Tennis,
City League Adult Tennis,
Youth Wrestling, Youth Soccer, Horseback Riding Club, Swimming, Archery and
Dancing.
